Despite lockdown, our choir continued to meet on Zoom. I think the count was in the region of 57 zoom choir rehearsals and when lockdown restrictions were eased the choir started to meet in the car park, socially distanced of course. Congratulations to Fr Ted Mullen on the 50th Anniversary of your Ordination in Rome. A lovely mass was held on Friday 20th February with a presentation of gifts and a reception and cake afterwords.
The Church looked amazing over Christmas. Thanks must go to everyone who put in such a big effort to make our Church so beautiful.
A huge grateful thank-you to Mark Hickenbotham for his hard work and dedication running the Church Youth Group for many years. A surprise party was held in his honour on Christmas Eve after Mass with cake and gifts.
The Christmas Concert was amazing! The choir and band excelled themselves with beautiful Christmas Songs and the audience participation of Carols raised the roof with praise for our New Born King. The Children’s Party was such fun. There were plenty of games and laughter and Father Christmas and his Elf arrived to give every child an early Christmas Present. Thanks go to Father Christmas, Isabel the Elf, and everyone who helped make the party such a success.
The summer concert was amazing. The church was packed. There were four choirs (the church children’s choir, the church adult choir, Bishop Ellis School Choir and English Martyrs Choir) Also an amazing orchestra which lifted the roof with music from Wicked. Retirement Mass and Blessing of the Bench in Memory of Father Keith. A Retirement Mass was held at Bishop Ellis School for the Headteacher Mrs. Suzanne Henry and for Mary Lowe, Berni Webb and Andy Jackson, all long serving members of staff who will be greatly missed.
